Indians with oil income from their lands are declared “incompetent” by the courts and assigned White guardians, who then defraud them and take their wealth. In many cases, Native women who control their allotments are married by White men, and some are murdered for their oil-rich land, as can be seen in the infamous Osage Nation murders.
